Fluffernutter Popcorn Balls

Ingredients
  • 8 c. popped popcorn
  • 6 c. miniature marshmallows
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. peanut butter chips
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 c. miniature M&M's
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine the butter and 4 c. of marshmallows. Heat over low/medium heat until melted and creamy. Set aside for a minute. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the peanut butter chips and the shortening. Heat for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat.
Place the popcorn in a large bowl. Pour the melted marshmallow over the popcorn and stir. Add the melted peanut butter chips and stir again. Toss in the m&m's, salt, and the extra 2 c. of marshmallows and stir really well. Let cool. Squeeze handfuls into large balls and set on a baking tray. Garnish with popsicle sticks, washi tape, and cupcake liners. Keep covered. Makes about 12 large popcorn balls.
Note: I pressed my popcorn into a 9x13 pan while it was warm. After it was chilled, I cut it into squares and then made each square into a ball.
